Five Kinds of Silence
Performed by Solid Lines Productions, a non profit theatre company which focuses on using theatre to open dialog around difficult subjects, Five Kinds of Silence marks Fox’s first time working with the organization. This piece tells the difficult and at times horrifying story of domestic and sexual abuse within a family. Organized as a staged reading, the play was performed at four universities around St. Louis and was followed by a talk back session with the director, actors, and certified counselors.
Domestic violence and sexual abuse is an often time overlooked topic that is far more common than many realize. Five out of six cast members had either experienced or had a form of domestic abuse transpire within their families. The shows were free, and in kind donations were accepted to benefit Saint Martha, a local shelter for women and children. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and, although exhausting, this was an important piece to be a part of.
Fox was also honored to create the image to be used for the show (featured above).
